The Stables Gallery Well done Stables Gallery you have won award for great access
I recently went to see the newly opened and revamped Stables Gallery that is wonderful; they have kept the stable feeling and done the makeover to the art gallery very nicely.
There is a new car park so you can park just outside the gallery, but if you’re a member in a group I am sure they will let you bring the bus in to drop everyone outside the gallery.
I went to see an art exhibition of paintings done by disabled artists, i.e. blind etc. I enjoyed it very much and found the artwork very well done.
This is one of the many paintings on display in the stables gallery it is of a violin with flowers.
There is a very nice café opposite the Stables Gallery that is in the other stable, this has been done very nicely to interact with the surroundings of the old stable building. They have added a skylight to add more light. The café also has a little bit about the history of the stables etc.
The café has drinks including:
- Tea
- White Coffee
- Cappuccino
- Lattie
- Hot Chocolate
- Milk
- Apple Juice
- Orange Juice
And snacks included:
- Apple Pie
- Carrot Cake
- Chocolate Brownies
- Crisps etc
The area where the café and stable gallery is completely flat, (inside the gallery it has cobbles). You will be glad to know that there is an accessible toilet that is very nice, you have to go though a set of double doors and then you come to the toilet, the door is on a hinge so will close on it’s own.
The Orleans House
You can reach Orleans House Gallery very easly from the Stables Gallery no steps, there is a very nice path up to Orleans House Gallery and there is a ramp up to the door and another up to the little shop and octagonal room. Unfortantly the upstairs is still un accessible to people in wheelchairs.
